TAPM Dental proudly accepts Medicaid and most major private insurance plans—especially for children. Our goal is to ensure that every child receives the dental care they need, regardless of financial barriers.
If you are uninsured or underinsured, TAPM offers a sliding fee scale to ensure access to affordable dental healthcare. Discounts are determined based on family size and income, following the most recent U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Federal Poverty Guidelines.
Eligibility for the sliding fee scale is based on household income and the number of family members. Patients who are unemployed or have no income must provide documentation verifying their financial status. If a patient is supported by someone else, a signed statement from the supporter confirming they provide food and shelter is required. To qualify, the total household income must fall within the U.S. Federal Poverty Guidelines.
Dr. DeShield brings a deep commitment to public health, mentorship, and leadership in dentistry. Her career began serving youth at a nonprofit dental center, and she has continued to provide care in both public and private settings across North Carolina.
At TAPM, she’s passionate about increasing access to quality dental care and guiding the next generation of dental professionals. She continues to be actively involved in local and national dental organizations, and values the opportunity to serve communities close to home.
